We are proud to announce the expansion of mentors within the First Tee College Scholarship Program as part of our overall partnership with the youth development organization. The national program extends First Tee’s impact to alumni by providing support focused on personal growth, mentorship and financial assistance throughout the four years of college.
The First Tee College Scholarship Program Class of 2022 features 25 college-bound students, each of whom is paired with a dedicated mentor. Mentorship is a critical component of the program, and Scholars are paired with mentors based on shared professional, academic and/or extracurricular interests.
As a testament to our commitment to helping build the next generation of leaders and changemakers, we provide the most mentorship support from within our organization for First Tee Scholars. Our role supports the growth of these students’ professional development by sharing industry knowledge and expertise as they prepare to take their own passions and education into real-world application.
Within the Class of 2022, TruGreen employees will be paired with three Scholars including:
- Vivian D’Orazi, First Tee — Metropolitan New York | TruGreen Mentor: Shannon Lopez, Senior Director of Communications
York College of Pennsylvania; Major: Marketing; Minor: Hospitality Management
Vivian will play on the women’s golf team and aspires to work in the golf industry post-graduation.
- Myles Manor, First Tee — Greater Washington, D.C. | TruGreen Mentor: Isaac Mertz, Carolina Region Technical Manager
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University; Major: Chemistry
Myles has a desire to bring interest and awareness to STEM careers in his community.
- Daniel Sears, First Tee — Massachusetts | TruGreen Mentor: Whit Orians, Senior Manager of Finance and Operations
Franciscan University of Steubenville; Major: Philosophy and Finance
Daniel plans on a career in either real estate or law.
TruGreen mentors Shannon, Isaac and Daniel join three other TruGreen mentors who have been supporting Scholars from the Class of 2021.
Through the College Scholarship Program, each Scholar receives access to professional development workshops, internships and full-time employment placement post-graduation, as well as up to $5,000 for four-years.
